How the calculator works
Tuition ranges come from fees universities published for 2026-2027 and from Presidential Decision No. 11625, which sets the rules for state university fees. Where no fee is published, as for medicine at state universities, the range is our estimate and the calculator says so.
Living costs are monthly ranges for 2026: Istanbul from university estimates and what our students spend, a smaller city from Isparta University of Applied Sciences, and Ankara and Izmir as our estimate between the two. Insurance is the public General Health Insurance (GSS) premium and the residence permit card fee for 2026.
Lira figures are converted at about 48 TL per US dollar (September 2026). Prices in lira rise during the year, so plan with the margin shown.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to study in Turkey per year?
With tuition, living costs and insurance, roughly 6,400 to 24,400 USD a year at a state university and 10,400 to 28,400 USD at a private university for most programs in 2026-2027, depending mostly on the city. Medicine and dentistry cost more.
How much is medicine in Turkey for international students?
Private universities publish 18,000 to 29,000 USD a year in tuition for 2026-2027. State medical faculties cost less, roughly 5,000 to 12,000 USD by our estimate, but have few places for international students.
Is Istanbul more expensive than other cities?
Yes. Living costs are about 700 to 1,500 USD a month in Istanbul, against 550 to 1,000 USD in Ankara or Izmir by our estimate and about 420 to 620 USD in smaller university cities.
What costs does the calculator include?
Tuition, living costs (housing, food, transport and personal spending), public health insurance (GSS) and the residence permit card. It does not include flights, application fees, document translation or a deposit for a flat.
Why does it show a range, not one number?
Fees differ between universities and programs, and living costs depend on your housing and habits. The range shows what most students pay; an advisor can give you the exact fees for the universities you shortlist.
